The depletion of raw materials creates a great need to change production methods and shift from fossil raw material to sustainable alternatives such as biobased raw material. LU Open has taken on the challenge to investigate alternatives to production based on fossil raw materials in different ways within the development area Biobased Industry. Are you interested in being a part of this? Please contact us! Biobased production is gaining more and more attraction as a replacer for production based on fossil raw materials. One reason is that industry seek a sustainable production system that does not deplete raw materials. Biobased materials that are renewable create a balance in the carbon emission and outtake. Also, well-designed bioprocesses uses no toxic chemicals, saves energy and is anticipated to be more economical while prices of fossil raw materials goes up. With an increasing number of people in the world and depletion of raw materials there is a greater need to change production methods and shift from fossil raw materials to sustainable alternatives such as biomass raw materials. LU Open works from the perspective that biobased production methods are the future and need to replace existing production methods based on fossil raw materials. We run several projects that focus on the challenges and possibilities for biobased industry and a shift towards biobased production. Read more about our projects by clicking the projects below.
